Panasonic announces lower price for new handheld AVCHD camcorder

Panasonic will begin shipments of its new AG-HMC40 AVCCAM handheld camcorder this month at $2295, about $900 less than the price announced with its pview during the NAB Show in April.

Panasonic also will bundle free EDIUS Neo 2 video editing software with HMC40 camcorders shipped between August and March 2010.

The 2.16lb HMC40 is a versatile HD camcorder with high-quality AVCHD recordings, high-resolution still photo capture and professional audio capabilities. The camcorder’s full-HD, 3-megapixel, three-MOS imager produces 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 AVCHD video with high sensitivity.
