New software release adds 23.98fps extraction to AJA cards

AJA Video Systems recently added support for the extraction of 23.98fps video from a 1080i 29.97fps HD-SDI signal with its release of version 6.0.2 software for the AJA Io HD, KONA 3 and KONA LHe products.

While not all models of camcorders with 1080i 29.97 HD-SDI outputs provide the flagged frame data needed for the proper operation of this feature, the newly introduced Canon XH G1S camcorder does.

When working with the camera in the 24F frame rate mode, the camera can be configured to output flagged frame data so the Io HD or KONA 3/LHe can locate the frames needed for removal, resulting in native 24F video files. AJA collaborated closely with Canon to provide this support.

Version 6.0.2 software for the AJA Io HD, KONA 3 and KONA LHe is available for download from http://www.aja.com/html/support_swd.html.
