JVC ships ProHD GY-HD100U camcorder

JVC has begun shipments of the GY-HD100U portable HD production camera.

First shown at NAB2005, the GY-HD100U offers full HD progressive recording at 24 fps. The compact, camera relies on three 1/3in CCDs with 1280x720 pixels for imaging and provides for interchangeable lenses with a standard 1/3in bayonet mount. The camera comes with a 16x Fujinon lens and HD Focus Assist for quicker, more precise focusing.

JVC is offering the camcorder with a dual media record option, which allows simultaneous disk and tape recording. The GY-HD100U records on MiniDV tape in HDV or DV formats.
