CBS Anchorage affiliate launches SNG operations

KTVA, the CBS affiliate in Anchorage, AK, is initiating satellite newsgathering operations after acquiring a NewsLink fly-away SNG system from Norsat International.

According to KTVA vice president/general manager Jerry Bever, finding a satellite newsgathering system that could endure Alaska’s extreme climate was a key factor in selecting the Norsat NewsLink.

The Norsat NewsLink delivers broadcast quality video from a compact, portable satellite terminal that packs into three airline checkable cases. It supports industry standard MPEG-2/DVB-S encoding and is built to survive harsh conditions often typical of satellite newsgathering assignments.
