TV4 selects Ardendo to manage assets

TV4, the largest commercial TV channel in Sweden, is using Ardendo software and Omneon hardware to streamline the digital file-based production and archiving of its media assets, including the broadcaster’s extensive news and sports programming.

TV4 will archive, log, insert metadata and perform basic editing functions. The broadcaster will use Ardendo’s DART software module to provide up to 20 simultaneous channels of video feed ingest.

The Ardendo software will handle all aspects of media management in the facility, from ingest to low-resolution editing and archiving. The software will also be used to manage content on the Omneon Spectrum media server systems and an Omneon MediaGrid system, which will serve as central storage for the news production environment.

Under Ardendo control, material ingested into a Spectrum server is transferred to the MediaGrid as it is recorded, and is immediately available for editing. Completed materials are transferred to Spectrum playout servers.

The new Ardendo software includes ARDOME for media management and archiving; DART for ingest scheduling; ARDENC for transcoding; ARDCAP for ingest and playout; EasyCut for browsing editing from standard PCs; and PreCut for browse, cut and clip generation.
