Triple redundancy adds comfort for SD/HD Super Bowl backhaul

Talk about pressure. How would you like to be responsible for backhaul of the world feed of the Super Bowl? Nearly a billion people around the globe had the chance to tune in to this year’s game. Providing SD and HD backhaul services from Tampa Bay was Crystal Lake, IL-based Satellite Technology Systems.

The company rolled out its new combo Ku-/C-band truck to the event for signal transport and added a fiber path for triple redundancy. This week, Charles Spoto, president of STS, talks about the setup, the redundancy and the pressure of delivering flawless backhaul services for the Super Bowl.
