Telecast Fiber to roll out new Telethon transceiver

At NAB2007, Telecast Fiber will unveil the new Telethon transceiver system, a hybrid optical-electrical device that combines aspects of two of the company's existing products.

Telethon features the functionality of Telecast Fiber's Python II series of transmitters and receivers in combination with the CWDM wavelength management functionality of the company's Teleport system.

The Telethon unit accepts both optical and electrical digital signals, ranging from 19.4Mb/s up to 1.5Gb/s uncompressed HD/SDI, and multiplexes them for transmission in either or both directions, with up to 16 optical signals on one fiber. The Telethon is interoperable with most other Telecast products.
