Streambox introduces ACT-L3 HD codec

Streambox has introduced ACT-L3 HD, a substantially lower bitrate 1080i HDTV full resolution, full frame, real-time HD encoder and decoder that operates at standard-definition MPEG-2 bandwidth.

The video transport system delivers HD video streams over an existing SD-capable network infrastructure.

ACT-L3 HD is built on the Advanced Coding Technology-Level 3 (ACT-L3 CODEC) with proprietary transform coding, filtering, global multiframe motion estimation, context based entropy coding and advanced progressive and interlaced post-filtering.

The system is available now.
