Starz chooses Archion’s Alliance Pro storage system

Starz Entertainment has deployed a 24TB Alliance Pro storage system from Archion to support a shared storage environment that would maximize its high bandwidth requirements. It chose a storage area network (SAN) that has allowed Starz to meet its HD bandwidth requirements and support editors and other staff using Apple, Adobe and Autodesk platforms.

Starz recently relaunched all its graphics packages in HD and needed the HD bandwidth for its storage solution. The company is using Archion’s Alliance Pro storage to support multiple HD uncompressed systems for both Macintosh and PC systems. The system is being used to store promo spots in both HD and SD from multiple computer formats.

Alliance Pro is a complete file-level locking SAN for demanding post-production and graphics environments. It works across both Fibre Channel and LAN networks. Each storage chassis is fully populated with 16 drives and creates capacities of up to 16TB with enterprise-class 1TB SATA II drives.
