Sky tests 3-D stereoscopic production, post with help from Quantel

Sky in the UK is working with Quantel and other partners on tests that could help deliver practical stereo 3-D to homes throughout the country.

At IBC2008, Quantel previewed a stereo 3-D version of the Enterprise sQ sever system in use by Sky for its conventional HD and SD services. In parallel, Sky has been post-producing a range of stereo 3-D content, including boxing, football, rugby and the show “Gladiators,” using Quantel Pablo systems and a 3ality Digital SIP2100 stereoscopic image analyzer. The successful tests have given Sky’s research and development team practical experience in production and post production of high-quality stereoscopic content.
