SGL to enhance FlashNet for sports applications

Software Generation (SGL), a provider of content archive technology, has enhanced its FlashNet technology for use in sports applications. The upgrade will be part of the company’s FlashNet Archive Management Suite to be shown at IBC2007.

FlashNet 6.2 will include improved error monitoring for both storage devices and media. Additional functionality will allow manual movement of material between different layers of the storage hierarchy with enhanced grouping functionality — a function the company said was specifically designed for sports environments.

The upgrade also features enhanced integration with news systems such as Avid iNews and TGV Aurora, as well as an enhanced API for integration with SGL’s partners.

Available on the Microsoft Windows SQL platform, SGL FlashNet 6.2 with Microsoft Clustering technology is scalable to serve small and large broadcasters alike.
