Red Wagon Media turns to HVX200 for ‘Broadway Across America’ spots

Red Wagon Media, a boutique agency, branding company and production house in New York City, recently created a new identity campaign for Live Nation’s Touring Theatrical division, Broadway Across America, with the Panasonic AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD camcorder and VariCam HD Cinema camera.
The cameras were used to shoot three, 30-second spots for Broadway Across America, a premiere presenting network of 49 North American cities offering touring Broadway, family productions.
Red Wagon had decided to shoot the campaign with VariCam when it took delivery of the HVX200. The HVX200 combines multiple HD and SD formats, multiple recording modes and variable frames rates, and the benefits of P2 solid state memory recording in a rugged, compact design.
Red Wagon recorded the HVX200 footage onto two, 4GB cards during the shoot. As soon as a card was filled with 20 minutes of footage, video was transferred to an Apple iBook with a FireWire drive from which it was downloaded to Final Cut Pro 5.03.
The footage was intercut with the primary camera’s VariCam material at Triode Pictures post house in New York City.
