Panasonic ships 1080p HD pro plasma displays

Panasonic Broadcast has begun shipping its new lineup of 1080 progressive scan full HD professional plasma displays.

The 65in TH-65PF9UK and the 103in TH-103PF9UK are now available. The 50in TH-50PF9UK will be available later this month.

With 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, the 1080p HD pro plasmas produce the entire color range specified in the HDTV standard (ITU-R, BT709) for accurate, natural-looking images that remain faithful to the original HD source. The 1080p HD models feature a contrast ratio of 5000:1 and 16-bit processing to reproduce crisp motion pictures with 4096 steps of gradation.
