Neumann microphone boosts female voices

Neumann has introduced the KMS 104 Plus, a new handheld microphone that boosts the bass range in the human voice. The mic is said to be optimized to improve female voices and can be used on camera in any live situation.

The KSM 104 Plus has a cardioid directional pattern, a transparent sound for optimal intelligibility of words and features maximum prevention of feedback. Compared with most dynamic hand microphones, Neumann said its KMS series has acoustic transparency, a wide frequency range and a high resolution of transients.

The housing, grille, capsule and electronics of the mic are suitably robust for harsh applications, and the KMS 104 Plus microphone — with a matching stand clamp — is supplied in a padded nylon case.
