Net Insight to upgrade fiber network for GlobeCast

GlobeCast has signed an order with Net Insight to upgrade its global fiber network at about 30 sites in Europe, Asia and the United States.

The order follows the 2006 installation of a network that carries more than 100 video, voice and data channels between GlobeCast’s facilities in France.

GlobeCast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, is a global content management and delivery company. Every year, GlobeCast manages and transports 10 million hours of video and other media for broadcasters, corporate, government and retail clients. According to Philippe Gautron, GlobeCast senior vice president of marketing and product development, the upgrade is necessary to keep pace with the company’s growing number of consumers and increased use of HD.
