MediaCorp Technologies launches new HD playout facilities

MediaCorp Technologies, a Singapore-based transmission infrastructure operator and service provider, recently hired Ascent Media Systems & Technology Services to provide turnkey systems integration services for its new HD channel.

Ascent Media designed and built MediaCorp Technologies HD playout facility, a process that started with a workflow analysis conducted in conjunction with MediaCorp’s engineering and operations team.

The facility upgrade includes a full HD master control switcher with HD channel branding. Dolby E was deployed for facility routing and Dolby AC-3 for distribution to consumers’ set-top boxes. Challenges such as multichannel sound and automatic aspect ratio correction, which are specific to mixed HD/SD environments, were also addressed.
