KLAS streamlines on-air look with Chyron AXIS graphics

KLAS-DT, the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, has adopted Chyron’s online content creation platform to help bring a new on-air look while keeping costs down. The AXIS system allows users to leverage the Internet for graphics production.

Faced with challenging economic times, the station chose the AXIS model as a way to sustain the quality of its newscasts while reassigning the resources dedicated solely for creating news graphics. The system has allowed the station’s producers and directors to get involved in the production process, alongside its traditional graphics people. The service will be used for news and weather graphics.

AXIS is a software as a service (SaaS) package operating over the Web that features prebuilt graphics templates for broadcast and online video outlets. Requiring no hardware or software, AXIS enables anyone with an Internet connection to instantly fulfill broadcast quality news graphics, still or animated maps, bar and pie charts financial stock quotes, and weather graphics.

Stations owned by Fox and Gannett are now also using the AXIS approach to graphics.
