Fujinon HD wide-angle view helps Actioncam deliver in-the-action perspective

Tulsa, OK-based Actioncam used Fujinon lenses as part of its HD aerial camera system Dec. 5 for coverage of the 2009 SEC Championship in Atlanta between the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide on CBS.

The Actioncam system features the Fujinon HA13x4.5BERD lens, which is paired with the Panasonic AK-HC1500 compact HD camera.

Actioncam can follow a player down the field — for example, a running back sprinting down the sidelines for a touchdown. In contrast, other systems have to zoom in to stay with the action. Actioncam operators rely on the wide angle of the HA13x4.5BERD lens and its 13x zoom to get the best shots during the game.

According to Actioncam president and CEO P.J. Bennett, the wider shot right at the action makes viewers feel like they’re in the game.
