FOR-A offers new 1.5 M/E Hanabi switcher

FOR-A has added to its lineup of VPS series switchers. The new HVS-1500HS Hanabi 1.5 M/E switcher, which was shown for the first time in September at the IBC conference in Europe, is now shipping.

The HVS-1500HS is a compact, powerful switcher that support all major HD formats. It’s available with three types of control panels: 24-button, 16-button and rack mountable 12-button versions. Within its 4RU main chassis, users can add memory cards and optional storage. An optional frame memory provides three seconds in each of its two channels to record HD, or 19 seconds in each of two channels to record SD video. With memory expansion, these recording times can be doubled.

The switcher also features a high-performance DVE capable of polygonal-based effects 3-D DVE effects, where video is literally wrapped around 3-D shapes. This enables users to create such effects as 3-D slabs that have become popular in sports broadcasting. This built-in DVE operates as a dual-channel in SD mode or as a single-channel in HD mode. The HVS-1500HS can also accommodate an optional two quad split-screen function.
