First HD channel in Spain begins service offering

Canal+ HD last week became Spain’s first HD channel with the rollout of the new channel on the SES ASTRA satellite platform.

The new HD channel is part of Sogecable’s digital pay-TV package Digital+, which broadcasts via ASTRA on 19.2 degrees east. The program lineup of Canal+ HD includes premium movies, series and sports events, such as the 2008 European Soccer Championship, which will broadcast 31 matches in HD.
