DR Group completes DI for steroid documentary

The DR Group recently wrapped a slate of services for director/writer Chris Bell's documentary "Bigger, Stronger, Faster," providing technical consulting, theater color correction and HDCAM SR deliverables.

"Bigger, Stronger, Faster,” which explores the world of steroid use in athletes throughout America, made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival and will have a limited theatrical opening May 30.

Originally graded on an uncalibrated monitor, the DR Group had to regrade the project with color correction imaging devices that met DCI specifications.

To achieve a product that could be shown anywhere in the world with the same results, the DR Group consistently calibrated, checked and monitored the screening environment to meet the DCI specifications. To ensure that there were no discrepancies, the DR Group created 444 and 422 LUTs (lookup tables) and then applied them to the outputs prior to layoff on the Sony HDCAM SR.
