That number will exceed 50 million in 2006 and nearly double by 2010, according to the ninth edition of Informa's Western European Television report forecasts.

The report found digital TV household figures by country to be:

Rest of region 5.341M 8.091M 20.837M

By the end of 2005, the UK is expected to account for 34.6 percent of the region's digital total, followed by France with 15.3 percent and Germany and Italy both with 13.7 percent. The UK will drop to 21.6 percent of the total by 2010, despite adding more than 5 million digital subscribers in 2005. Germany will increase its share to 25 percent by 2010.
