Church at Pinnacle Hills puts Ikegami HD cameras to work on 'Winners'

Every broadcaster believes that the messages they transmit are of the utmost importance. For religious broadcasters, however, belief is the message.

At the Church at Pinnacle Hills, in Rogers, AK, belief is powerfully conveyed in “Winners,” a weekly worship service featuring Pastor Ronnie Floyd that’s carried on the Daystar Television Network, the world’s second largest Christian TV network reaching more than 60 million homes.

Recently, the church upgraded to a 2400-seat, entirely HD facility, which is outfitted with five Ikegami HDK-75EXBF portable HD full-digital cameras and two Ikegami HDL-40 box-style HD cameras.

The Ikegami HDK-75EXBF can be converted for studio use with 5in or 9in viewfinders and full studio lenses with the SE-H700 System Expander. The portable cameras and HDL-40 box cameras use three 2/3in 2.2 million-pixel IT CCD.

Four of the church’s HDK-75EXBF cameras are on floor level, on the stage and in the audience to capture the service. The fifth is configured for jib use. The HD box cameras are mounted on the edge of the balcony.

The Church at Pinnacle Hills has a 6000sq-ft window at the back of the stage. Although tinted, it presented potential lighting and shading issues. The Ikegami cameras, however, allow the production crew to stabilize differences in how the stage appears on sunny and cloudy days.

The intuitive, easy-to-use cameras enable the Church at Pinnacle Hills to employ only two full-time people on its technical staff and church volunteers to operate the cameras.
