Brillian, Syntax Groups announce merger

Liquid Crystal on Silicon provider Brillian and Syntax Groups have entered into a definitive agreement to merge.

Pending stockholder and regulatory approval, Brillian will acquire all outstanding shares of Syntax in a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction.

Brillian offers Gen II LCoS technology and 720p and 1080p Gen II LCoS HDTVs and components. Syntax manufactures the Olevia family of widescreen HDTV-ready LCD TVs.

The combined company will deliver high-end and mass-market HDTV solutions supporting TFT-LCD and LCoS applications.
