ATSC publishes A/112 E-VSB implementation guidelines

The Advanced Television Systems Committee has publishing its A/112 E-VSB implementation guidelines.

Available in Acrobat PDF format from the ATSC Web site, the document provides guidelines to “parameter selection and implementation scenarios where useful.”

E-VSB increases error protection of ATSC 8-VSB transmission. It adds enhanced data and forward error correction bits to a number of data segments in each 8-VSB data frame. The data is formatted into standard MPEG transport stream packets and interspersed with packets intended for normal 8-VSB transmission so that errors don’t occur in 8-VSB receivers.
