Alfacam acquires 144 new HD cameras as part of OB vehicle build-out

Lint, Belgium-based OB and TV facilities provider Alfacam has placed an order with Thomson to equip 10 new HD outside broadcast trucks, Thomson announced at IBC2007 in Amsterdam last week.

Each of the 10 new OB vehicles, which are currently being built, will be equipped with a Grass Valley Kayak production switcher.

Alfacam is also buying 144 LDK8000 multiformat HD cameras for the vehicles. Of those, 72 will be the new SportCam version, launched at IBC2007. Alfacam also is acquiring four HD wireless systems. Thomson has begun shipping the cameras and switchers to Alfacam and delivery is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
