‘Smalltalk Diaries’ relies on Iconix Video HD camera to explore insect world
The CBBC series “Smalltalk Diaries,” scheduled to air in the UK in December 2007, will feature the use of the Iconix HD-RH1 miniature HD camera system.
The show, produced for the children’s programming branch of the BBC, is the latest project from wildlife cameraman and producer Martin Dohrn.
The 10-episode series from Dohrn's production company, Ammonite, is an exploration of the insect world via fictional translation lens, which allows the creatures to communicate directly with viewers and presents a unique twist on the genre.
Dohrn’s latest rig was developed specifically for use with the Iconix HD-RH1 camera system to capture tiny, complex wildlife and is the inspiration behind the “Smalltalk Diaries” translation lens.
Featuring a camera head about the size of a golf ball, and weighing 2oz, the remote head system of the Iconix HD-RH1 can keep pace with larger HD video cameras, yet is versatile enough to offer 35 different format and frame rate combinations.
