TitanTV teams with Sinclair on PSIP

TitanTV, a supplier of broadcast technologies and an electronic programming guide, will supply Sinclair Broadcasting Group with new software to manage Sinclair’s PSIP compliance on 58 of its stations.

TitanTV’s MediaStar software will be used to manage PSIP, the broadcaster’s program and system information protocol. The software allows station managers to oversee contracts and programming schedules online.

PSIP requirements ensure that digital television viewers are properly informed regarding channels and broadcasts available to them. TitanTV developed the PSIP data service component of MediaStar to support FCC-mandated PSIP requirements and now serves 505 clients including Raycom Media, Gannett, Univision and Barrington Broadcasting.

By using MediaStar, Sinclair can set up and distribute schedule information to its station personnel and into its PSIP generation equipment. It also includes a contract management feature to ensure stations are scheduling programs based on the terms set forth by the distributor.
