RTL Technical Committee chooses file format for HD program exchange

The RTL Group’s Technical Committee has chosen the XDCAM HD 422 file format for HD program exchange, within the group and from external distributors. Video should be encoded 50Mb/s, MPEG-2, long GOP, 1080i. This decision is part of the RTL Group’s strategy of an HD workflow in a complete file-based environment, lowering delivery and post-production costs. With 43 TV channels and 32 radio stations in 11 countries, the RTL Group is one of Europe’s leading entertainment networks.
