OpenTV announces deal with Sun Direct

India-based Sun TV Network has selected OpenTV to provide the end-to-end solution and deployment management technology enabling its digital television services for its new DTH satellite pay-TV network, Sun Direct. In addition, OpenTV will provide Sun Direct with a collection of applications that includes a new EPG, interactive cricket and multiangle interactive news.

Sun Direct will use programming from multiple broadcasters to provide a nationwide service with an emphasis on South India. Sun Direct will use the latest MPEG-4 technology to increase broadcast capacity. The network’s launch will be supported by Irdeto’s conditional access solution.
