JustEdit launches multi-format playout server

JustEdit announced at NAB2005 a new generation of video servers for master control and newsroom automation solutions.

vsnairnews is a multi-format playout solution independent of video codecs and file formats. It allows mixing DV25/50, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, M-JPEG, WM9 and MXF files with different video codecs, all in the same playlist. vsnairnews forms part of JustEdit's vsn portfolio of playout, news and asset management products.

The multi-format capability eases the migration to tapeless operation and digital workflows. Legacy nonlinear editors can be used with the transmission servers in their native file formats. It integrates with most NLEs. It is compatible with a wide range of formats: DV, DVCPRO, MPEG2 4:2:0, MPEG2 4:2:2, M-JPEG, Windows Media 9, Matrox and MXF. The new vsnairnews XL software module manages failure detection and automatic switching to the backup.
