Eurotek integrates digital archive project for Irish Parliament

Oireachtas Broadcasting Unit (OBU) of the Irish parliament, House of the Oireachtas, has contracted Eurotek Ireland to provide a digital acquisition and archiving system for the parliament to replace the existing Sony Newsbase system. Eurotek designed and built an integrated archive system supplied by manufacturers including SGL, IBIS, Marquis Broadcast, Omneon, Avid and Telestream.

The system is based around IBIS iFind tools, with Omneon Spectrum servers, Omneon MediaGrid storage system and integrated Interra Baton automated QC software. The recorded media is archived to a Sony PetaSite with LTO-4 tape drives, providing in excess of 10,000 hours of 50Mb/s MXF-wrapped media. SGL Flashnet archive management software provides comprehensive rules-based archive management and is integrated into the IBIS iFind software suite, providing the operational staff with an easy-to-use interface to archived media.
