ABS enhances playout facilities with Petasite

Advanced Broadcast Services, an independent provider of low-cost, full-service playout, transmission and broadcast facilities, has recently enhanced their facilities with the addition of a Sony Petasite data library. This gives it a massive capacity of 35,000 hours of MPEG-2 video storage.

The company has also developed the remote playout concept, which would allow a channel to take full control of its playlist, live from anywhere in the world. This means content can be ingested remotely and transferred over the Internet to the playout center in London for final transmission. International channels transmitting out of the UK can manage their content remotely and more specifically, sell commercials locally and get them to air within hours.
