Broadcast Production Engineer Georgia Public Broadcasting is looking for a Broadcast Production Engineer to provide the first line of technical support for TV and radio broadcast, production, and IT-centric systems. The Broadcast Production Engineer will provide assistance with software applications and network operating procedures, to include technical support, equipment maintenance for production and broadcast, and be the backup to existing engineers in the performance of their day-to-day responsibilities. Candidate Qualifications: • Degree and/or vocational / technical training in Electronics, Broadcast Engineering, Communications Technology, or as a Computer Specialist or in a related field required • Four to Six years’ experience in computer systems and software, electronics, electronic repair, technology required or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills, and abilities for this job. • Three to five years’ experience in installation, maintenance and repair of IT, Radio and TV broadcast equipment; design and documentation of new systems and IT networks. • Familiarity with FCC rules as they apply to EAS, CALM Act and Closed Captioning. • Network+ level knowledge in the day-to-day support of networked systems required to include; understanding of the OSI model and TCP/IP network protocol, the overall TCP/IP topologies, understanding at a basic level the function of layer 2/3 network switches/routers, and the setup and workings of the TCP/IP settings on servers and desktops. • Must possess a valid Georgia’s driver’s license. • CCNA certification a plus. Job Responsibilities Include: • Demonstrate working knowledge of TV and Radio broadcast/production and familiarity with all broadcast/production equipment and software, including but not limited to: MassTech Digital Asset Management, ENCO Systems, News Room Systems, Radio and TV Editing Systems and Harris Playout and Production Servers. • Develop a cohesive working partnership with the NOC, Engineering, and IT teams providing on-site and remote service and support for broadcast, transmission, and IT related issues. • Prepares, completes and/or distributes a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and various other documents associated with daily responsibilities of this position. • Provides backup Engineering and Technical support as well as equipment maintenance repairs for production and broadcast equipment including but not limited to cameras, video decks, video and audio switchers, video monitors, and other technical systems used in the facility. • Provides an increase in knowledge on how traditional IT functions such as IP(TCP/UDP), IP routing, IP switching, and desktop/server support play an integral part in Broadcast Engineering. • Answers and responds immediately to Engineering and Production inquiries; uses engineering ticketing system to generate trouble tickets and to track these to resolution. • Performs or assists with repair of a variety of studio and on-site facility equipment to meet FCC, FAA, station and/or client standards. • Performs preventative maintenance on all systems as scheduled. KULR-TV in scenic Billings, MT seeks a Managing Engineer. Some formal engineering education a plus but not required. Experience with digital transmission systems, broadcast microwave systems, digital control room systems, networking, video over IP, automation, and a solid understanding of FCC rules. Organizational skills a must! We also seek a Broadcast Engineer. Duties include the ability install, operate, maintain, and repair broadcast, satellite, and transmission systems & equipment. This is a full time employment opportunity for a technical operations lead that will provide frontline operational and technical support for the video facility’s production systems: including AVID editing and transcoding systems; studio production TriCaster switching and streaming; administration and management of all file-based content and processing via AVID’s Media Composer/Isis Storage/Interplay Media Asset Manager System.
