Verizon Launches A Washington DC News Channel
Verizon has launched its very first owned and operated news channel. Dubbed FiOS1, the channel is delivered by fiber optic cable to homes as part of the FiOS TV service. FiOS1 will run 24/7, carrying local news, traffic, weather and sports.

Verizon will partner with professional news organizations for some of the content it delivers. The channel will also televise local news and community stories shot and produced by trained citizen video journalists using HD camcorders.

FiOS1 is also available to FiOS TV digital subscribers in Northern Virginia and parts of Maryland.
