SMPTE NY to Host Editing Showcase June 15
The New York Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) will host an editing showcase on Tuesday, June 15 for freelance editors and producers, broadcasters and local film and television students.

"We are excited to able to provide area professionals, many of whom might not have gone to NAB, with an opportunity to learn about the latest versions of the most popular audio and video editing systems, " Ray Blumenthal, chair of the SMPTE NY Section said.

The showcase is co-sponsored by the New York Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society and will include a number of audio-related editing exhibits. Demonstrations will run from 2 p.m.-9 p.m.

In the evening, expert editors will hold panel discussions to discuss the latest technology. Also, during the showcase, user groups such as Apple and Avid will hold on-site meetings.

The event is at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, and is free and open to the public.
