Siano Mobile Silicon to feature multi-standard MDTV receiver

Siano Mobile Silicon, a fabless semiconductor maker of solutions for mobile digital TV (MDTV), will highlight its multi-band, multi-standard receiver chipset for MDTV in the Mobile Zone at IBC2006.

The SMS1000 chipset is a low-cost, ultra-low-power, quad-band multi-standard receiver. A combination of RF tuner and demodulator, the SMS1000 constitutes a complete solution for integrating digital TV functions into handheld and portable devices, such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptop computers and portable media players.

The SMS1000 chipset is already designed into handheld devices scheduled soon for consumer availability. It is supported by multiple software vendors.

The company will also introduce a complete application system to handle multi-standard reception, including a demonstration of DVB-H and DVB-T reception.
