NBC Upgrades Local News With Grass Valley Edius Systems
Thomson Grass Valley has announced that the NBC Station Group will be installing its Edius nonlinear editing software throughout its NBC and Telemundo stations.

The software will mainly be used on laptop computers for field editing by ENG crews. Edius is positioned as a core piece of Grass Valley’s digital newsroom solution.

Operators will use Edius to edit stories, which will then be wirelessly transmitted them back to the station where existing BitCentral Precis play-to-air server systems are used.

NBC is buying both professional and broadcast versions of Edius, suitable for working with HDV cameras and Sony’s XDCAM HD formats, respectively.
