CBS To Air Evening News, Conventions in HD
The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric will be broadcast in high definition starting next summer, according to published reports.

This was revealed at the HD World conference last week in New York by Mel Olinsky, director of bureau operations for CBS. He added that the network will also air its coverage to of the 2008 Republican and Democratic national conventions in HD as well.

Olinsky said that CBS is preparing its facilities for the changeover. The Democratic convention is scheduled for Denver in August and the GOP will meet in Minneapolis a month later.

NBC nightly newscast with Brian Williams already airs in HD.
