Panasonic Delivers 32 GB P2 Cards
Panasonic made its 32 GB P2 cards available this week. The model AJ-P2C032RG card is now ready for prime time at a suggested list price of $1,650.

One 32 GB P2 card can record for 32 minutes in AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO HD; 40 minutes in AVC-Intra 100 in native 1080/24p; 80 minutes in AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO HD in native 720/24p; 64 minutes in DVCPRO50; and 128 minutes in DVCPRO, according to Panasonic Broadcast, based in Seacucus, N.J.

The company noted that those recording times increased by five for the AJ-HPX3000 and AJ-HPX2000 hi-def camcorders, which have five P2 card slots. Panasonic also offers a 16 GB P2 card for $900, making the 32 cheaper by about $5 a GB. The new 32 is compatible with the 16, so cards can be mixed and matched.
