Avid's Digidesign Receives Oscar for Pro Tools
Digidesign, the audio division of Avid Technology, will receive an Academy Award of Merit from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the design, development and implementation of the Pro Tools digital audio workstation. The award will be presented at the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards on Feb. 14. According to the Academy, only five Oscars have ever been awarded for sound technology.

"Avid received its first Oscar statuette five years ago for the Film Composer system. Only a handful of companies have won two statuettes -- and it feels great to be one of them," said David Krall, Avid's president and chief executive officer.
