Ascent Media Scores Major Contract With FOX
Palm Bay, FL--Ascent Media Systems & Technology Services (a unit of Ascent Media Network Services) has been awarded a multi-year contract by FOX Networks Engineering & Operations to provide ongoing system support and maintenance for the satellite earth stations at all FOX Broadcasting affiliate locations. Additionally, Ascent Media will assume responsibility for the upgrades which FOX Digital initiated in 2002, which includes a migration path from a single antenna to a dual antenna satellite system. Ascent will install a new Andrew 4.5 meter antenna at approximately 125 FOX sites.
"We are very pleased FOX Networks Engineering & Operations has chosen Ascent Media as their service provider," said Tom Canavan, senior vice president, systems and technology services, Ascent Media. "With dedicated technical resources in over 40 locations nationwide, Ascent Media is ideally positioned to support a project of this magnitude -- not only in terms of the aggressive installation schedule, but for the ongoing 24/7 technical support as well."
This project is strategic to FOX, in that it will enable the large-scale upgrade, giving FOX the capability to manage network distribution with significantly more efficient digital payload per transponder.
"It's all about service," said Paul F. Beeman, senior vice president broadband & satellite transmission, FOX Networks Engineering & Operations. "FOX believes that Ascent Media is uniquely positioned to provide FOX affiliates the highest level of time-sensitive technical support."
