“World News Now” Goes Hi-Def

NEW YORK: ABC’s overnight news program, “ABC World News Now has gone hi-def. The announcement was fairly low-key--the only indication of the HD launch came from news anchors Jeremy Hubbard and Vanita Nair in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The show becomes the first overnight program to go all-HD.

“World News Now,” launched in 1992, airs live in 20-minute segments from 2 to 3:30 a.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. The show has become a staple among the insomniac crowd, taking a more lighthearted approach to the news. No word yet on whether its theme song, “The World News Polka” is available in 5.1.-- from TV Technology
