VDS Provides YES With Scoreboard Bug System

Melville, NY--VDS, a developer of broadcast automation software, content design applications, and plug-in products, has provided the YES Network with a sophisticated scoreboard bug system for their coverage of the New York Yankees and New Jersey NETS games.
Under guidance from the YES Network's graphics group, VDS designed the scoreboard bug system to be very portable, flexible, and easy to configure and operate. The scoreboard bug system travels frequently throughout the country and on any given night the local scoreboard bug operator could be seeing the system for the first time, so intuitiveness of the user interface and set up utility was essential.
According to Mike Dilworth, CTO of VDS, "The YES Network is a pioneer in providing team-specific programming. With the large number of games they cover both on and off the road, they needed a system that was easy to setup and use and very reliable. They also had advanced creative requirements, including full 3D transitions, animated drop-downs and automated sponsor logos. We are pleased that YES elected to partner with VDS to bring their vision to air."
The VDS system allows the operator to ingest and then select the logo of the network that is broadcasting the game. (CBS or YES, etc.) In addition, the operator can apply different font styles and sizes on the scoreboard bug as well as different on/off-air transitions. Different sponsor logos and animations can be selected and displayed as the scoreboard bug transitions on and off the screen. Prior to this implementation the YES Network production crew had to utilize and synchronize a multitude of external devices for their sponsor displays.
