TV Station News: August 25, 2009

HOUSTON and ORLANDO, FLA.: Two TV stations are adding more local news to the line-up. KIAH-TV, the Tribune-owned CW in Houston, is adding an hour of news in late afternoon. KIAH will launch 5 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts, Monday through Friday, starting Sept. 28, the Houston Chronicle said. The Chronicle said three TV stations in the market have expanded morning newscasts, with KRIV-TV, the local Fox O&O, expecting to do likewise later this year.

In Orlando, WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate owned by Hearst, is planning to launch a nightly newscast at 10 p.m., beginning Aug. 31, The Orlando Business Journal reports. WESH already has an 11 p.m. newscast. The 10 p.m. program will air seven nights a week, with separate anchor teams for weekdays and weekends.
