WD of Lake Forest, Calif., rolled out a DVR capacity extender this week that’s compatible with TiVo devices. WD said its My DVR Expander external hard drive has been verified to work with TiVo HD and TiVo Series3 digital video recorders.
The device is said to be available at Best Buy stores and at TiVo’s online retail site for around $200.
The 500 GB Expander will hold up to 300 hours of SD or 60 hours of HD programming, WD said. It also works with Scientific Atlanta 8300 series DVRs.
TiVo meanwhile released the ratings for its top 10 ranked commercials for August, as viewed by TiVo subscribers. No. 1 went to a promo for Universal’s “Mr. Beans Holiday Movie,” with a 7.6 rating from the TiVo’d Aug. 12 episode of Big Brother. Nine of the top 10 rated ads appeared in the same show. No. 10, with a 6. a promo for Warner Bros. film, “Invasion,” appeared in the Aug. 15 episode of So You Think You Can Dance.
