RF Central Acquires Total RF Marketing

RF Central has acquired 100% ownership of Total RF Marketing. RF Central, based in Carlisle, PA, has been growing steadily since its inception in late 2003. RF Central was formed with a purchase of microwave assets from Winemiller Communications. With Total RF as a new division, RF Central now employs over 80 people and expects that number to grow to over 100 over the next 6 months.

RF Central supplies state-of-the-art microwave equipment to television broadcasters throughout the United States. Its business has been bolstered by the FCC’s mandate to replace 2 GHz analog transmitters and receivers with new, digital microwave equipment by September 2007. Total RF’s business concentrates on renting similar equipment to broadcasters, mainly for large sporting events such as the Olympics, golf, and other live events.

Total RF Marketing co-founder Jim Malone will ascend to the position of Chief Technology Officer of RF Central and, as such, will focus on new and emerging technologies to keep ahead of the high-tech curve. He will also support Total RF on their larger events.

As President of Total RF, Steve Gansky, co-founder of Total RF Marketing, will continue to interface with the company’s core customers and will play a major role in the acquisition of microwave equipment from the company’s British supplier, Gigawave.

Fred Fellmeth will become Total RF’s Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business. Formerly General Counsel of Total RF Marketing and intimately familiar with its daily operations, he is well suited to this new role.

RF Central’s President and CEO, Jeff Winemiller, had this to say: “With Total RF’s use of COFDM technology since the 1999 America’s Cup, and RF Central’s sale of over 100 systems, our combined company has more experience with COFDM than any of our competitors. We now have a very large stock of top-of-the-line equipment and a team of seasoned field engineers. RF Central can do any event in the world.” Jeff plans the acquisition of several strategic companies over the next 6 months to further expand the company. Total RF will remain in Bensalem, PA, just outside Philadelphia.
