Pro-Bel and SGL Announce Strategic Alliance

Pro-Bel has announced a strategic alliance with Software Generation Ltd., leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment.

Following discussions at NAB2006, Pro-Bel has become the first SGL partner to fully integrate the company’s redesigned data archive and management software FlashNet6 with Pro-Bel’s Morpheus family of products.

Designed around a clustered architecture, FlashNet 6 scales from just a single archive server to an infinite number of I/O (input/output) machines. As the data throughput requirements increase, the cluster can be augmented by further servers, which simply plug into the cluster and get straight to work.

The Morpheus family comprises three key products: Morpheus Automation, Morpheus Media Management and Morpheus Control and Monitoring. Morpheus Automation, central to this alliance, manages everything from simple server playout to complex channels where schedules are changing regularly and unpredictably. It introduces new concepts in user interfaces and a scalable object oriented event structure.

Following IBC2006, SGL and Pro-Bel will announce a major European broadcaster as the first customer to install the integrated SGL FlashNet6 and Morpheus system. Bernie Walsh, SGL Sales Director, commented, “We are delighted to announce the beginning of what will be a very fruitful relationship with Pro-Bel. The integrated FlashNet6 digital video storage/archive management software and Morpheus automation system will provide broadcasters worldwide with a totally integrated solution that builds on the established expertise of two of the major players in the broadcast industry.”

Graham Pitman, Pro-Bel Group CEO, concludes, “We are always eager to work with other best-of-breed suppliers in order to provide customers with solutions that work not only in theory but in practice. The power and flexibility of these technologies working together has to be seen to be believed.”
