NBCSports.com Launches Screen Shot Interactive Broadcast Of The 2007 NHL Stanley Cup Final

NBCSports.com announced the Screen Shot online interactive television experience, which allows viewers at home to play along in realtime with NBC’s Stanley Cup broadcasts.

This Flash-based two-screen application—developed by TANDBERG Television—lets fans choose their favorite teams, predict the outcome of events in the game, and root for players of their choice. There are also polls, NHL trivia, mini hockey games and chats with other fans.

At the Screen Shot site, viewers can log in and earn points for participation, comparing themselves with other fans. There are prize giveaways, including tickets to next year’s Stanley Cup Final, chosen randomly from registered users.

Screen Shot launched with the Saturday June 3rd broadcast and will be available for all remaining games.

"NBC Sports and NBCSports.com are committed to using interactivity to entertain and engage our audience across multiple platforms," said Perkins Miller, senior VP, Digital Media, NBC Sports & Olympics. "NBCSports.com Screen Shot is an exciting example of how we can enhance the TV experience, allowing hockey fans to watch the Stanley Cup on television while simultaneously playing along online."

"Sports fans no longer want to passively watch the game," said Michael Adams, vice president, system architecture, TANDBERG Television, Inc. "Today's sports enthusiast wants to be part of the action. The two-screen application developed for NBCSports.com demonstrates TANDBERG Television's commitment to providing innovative interactive technologies, to personalize the television experience."
