High Def Live-TV News Van Tours with BMS, JVC Gear

An HD ENG live-news van is traveling cross-country to demonstrating JVC's DM-JV600U HDTV encoder and DM-D4600U MPEG-2 decoder for remote hi-def news distribution.

The ENG Mobile Systems van will be making stops at the regional Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) shows--in Seattle, Phoenix and Dallas--to demo the JVC gear that works with the BMS TruckCoder II COFDM transmitter and integrated receiver decoder (IRD). Other tour stops include San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and Denver.

The DM-JV600U is a 4:2:0/4:2:2 HDTV encoder that works with analog and digital microwave radio systems. The encoder takes JVC SMPT-292M HD-SDI signals, encodes and compresses them into an HD MPEG-2 transport stream. Broadcasters can mix the HD signal that comes off the microwave radio received in that station with their live HD signal.
